Where do I start? I am the son of a 25 plus year dispatcher in my home county who took the calls for EMS, the City Police and the County Sheriff Dept. and in the spare time was a jailer while working. I personally worked with disabled folks for four summers and am now seeing some of these same folks in the funeral home that I work in. I also very much understand all of his points that he was bringing to light I think that it is a very important issue and some of these skills that he was requiring of his staff would be important for funeral homes to have as things have changed and some of the responsibilities that had been taken care of by some of those train people that are now in a limited situation now and are falling to the police and others. sometimes falling to us in certain situations. The trauma training is also important to include as well particularly when it comes in conjunction with the grief component. Mental illness can be something relatively simple to control where it can be controlled with medication or it can be something far more difficult to control. It is more important that the conversation is being had and that it continues.
