Education Committee:
Subject to the specific approval of the Board of Govenors, this committee shall have jurisdiction and authority over all matters pertaining to the Annual Meeting of the Association and shall make available such programs and information suitable for schools, seminars, district meetings, and the Annual Convention. Additionally, the Committee will monitor and make recommendation on emerging trends and issues affecting education for the funeral service in the interest of recruitment/retention of member of our profession.
Suggested goals: Assist in planning events for the Association’s annual convention format; Convention speakers; Convention exhibits; ongoing OSHA training; suggest District Meeting con-ed. Work with DMACC officials regarding Iowa’s Mortuary Science Program.
Legislative Committee:
The Legislative Committee shall have charge of all matters pertaining to legislation affecting funeral directors of this state.
Suggested goals: Monitor legislation impacting funeral service/small businesses; serve as liaison to Iowa Board of Mortuary Science; and develop ways to educate legislators on funeral service issues.
Membership Committee:
The Membership Committee shall investigate all applicants for membership as to their standing in the profession and their qualification for membership in this Association and shall, if satisfied as to the eligibility of the applicant, certify said applicant to the Board of Governors with a favorable recommendation of admission. The committee will oversee Scholarship requirements and recipients, Aware of Excellence criteria and recipients, and Milestone Achievement recipients.
Suggested goals: Develop a format for member services information dissemination; leadership training opportunities for members and member follow-up programs; evaluate IFDA publications’ effectiveness, timeliness and knowledge being presented to members.
Ad Hoc Committees:
AS ISSUES ARISE – ON AN AS-NEEDED BASIS. IFDA seeks the names of individuals who would be willing to serve on Ad Hoc Committees. These will be appointed by the Board and would address issues as they arise on an as-needed basis. These committees will end once the issue has been addressed and/or resolved.
